Questions people ask first
Do I need to know Docker or the command line?
No. Konsole downloads and runs everything a website needs by itself. If you already use Docker, it can use that instead. You choose for each site.
Will it touch my live website?
Only when you tell it to. Bringing a site home makes a copy and leaves the server as it is. When you send changes back, Konsole first shows you the list of files it is about to upload.
My hosting only gives me FTP. Is that enough?
Yes. Konsole connects over FTP, FTPS, SFTP or SSH. On FTP-only hosting it copies the database through a small temporary file that deletes itself when the job is done. If you use FileZilla or WinSCP, it can read the servers you already saved there.
Which websites does it work with?
WordPress first of all. It also runs plain PHP sites, Laravel, Symfony, Drupal and static HTML sites, with PHP 8.1 to 8.4.
Mac or Windows?
Both. Konsole runs on Mac, with Apple silicon or Intel, and on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit).
Do I need an account?
Yes, a free one, on the Free plan too. You sign in once, in your browser, with an email and a password or with Google. Your plan follows your account on your computers, and there's no license key to copy.
What happens if I stop paying for Pro?
Your sites keep working and nothing is deleted. You go back to the free plan, which covers up to 3 sites on your computer.
